I Finally Gave Birth!

My baby finally arrived!

Not the baby you carry home wrapped in a blanket and tucked secure in a car seat...I'm talking about the first annual "Get Radical" Women's Conference!

I've been working on this event for over 7 months and it was FANTASTIC! Women from all across the country, including Florida, Massachusetts, Illinois, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado, West Virginia, North Carolina and Delaware, had a day of learning, networking and FUN.

The speakers were incredible - Barbara Stanny, Valorie Burton, Brenda J. Smith, and of course, the amazing Jillian Michaels from NBC's hit TV show The Biggest Loser. And for those participants who attended the VIP Luncheon with Jillian, they enjoyed some personal one-on-one time with her.

Here are just a few photos and over the next couple of weeks, I'll be posting some of the tips and strategies that the speakers shared, as well as more pictures and videos.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and making this event a HUGE success. We hope to see you next year!

  1. All I can say is WOW!! I attended the conference and cannot think of a better way to have spent my Saturday but at the Get Radical Conference -listening to amazing speakers and having the opportunity to meet women from across the country and chatting with them about their lives. The day was not only full of inspirational or motivational advice from the speakers, but also practical steps for individuals to use to help them achieve their goals. For those that did not make the conference-you really missed a treat and a once in a lifetime opportunity. The synergy of the conference was just amazing! I want to PRE-REGISTER for the 2nd Annual Get Radical Conference!!!! Where do I sign up?!

  2. The Get Radical Conference was exceptional! It exceeded any expectation I had from the moment we registered. I cannot even begin to describe the impact each speaker had on me and on my friends. Suffice to say, when the 2010 Conference registration opens, I want to be first on the list! Thank you so very much Doreen! You have changed my life!

  4. Amazing! That is the only way to describe it. Doreen the conference was fantastic and totally exceeded my expectations. Everything was wonderful and I learned so much from every speaker. I have to admit that my main reason for attending was to see Jillian but I ended up staying until the very end. I was so impressed with everything. Now the Meet and Greet with Jillian was just my highlight. I cannot believe the amount of time she spent with us. I am speechless. I knew that she was a special person but now I have witnessed it for myself first hand. THANK YOU so much for a great event it was worth every mile traveled.

  6. Great job, Doreen. I was challenged down to my toes by the speakers. Definitely life changing.
I plan to blog about Jillian's talk tomorrow, it fits in nicely with my exercise blog carnival. Would love you to participate, since you are planning to do a half marathon!

  7. I thought the event was spectacular. Their was excitement in the air. It was great to be at an all day event and see the excitement continuing at 4:00 until the end. I was impressed by how each speaker engaged the audience and the stories they told. The event seemed well organized and the vendors had great products too! Looking forward to next year!

  8. The conference sounds incredible -- very worthwhile. It must indeed have been like giving birth.

Am wondering how writing a book figures into your advice to your clients, in terms of work. It's something that's been at the back of my mind for quite some time, and after reading this great book, "Doing Business By the Book," by Sophfronia Scott, I'm even more inspired to get it done. She gives the blueprint for writing and using a business book as part of an overall business strategy. I have to tell you, I'm pretty excited by the prospect. As she says, a business book is like the business card of old.

  9. Liz,

As an author of over 10 fiction books published over the last 5 years, I know first hand how satisfying a writing project can be.

In terms of a business book, I think it's a fantastic idea and a plus when building a business. My first non-fiction book will be coming out later this year, and the best advice I got about writing it was to make sure I had something unique to say. Be clear on your message and have a strong tie between what's in your book and what you do.

Good luck! I know you can do it! And remember, the only way to write a book is to WRITE. Don't think about it. Don't contemplate. Don't plan. Just write!
